Dog Dies in Care of App Dog Walker; Owners File Suit

Nassau County, NY: The New York Post reports that a Yorkshire terrier named Whiskey was hit by a car and killed on June 13, 2019 when out with a dog walker his owners had hired through dog walking app, Wag. Whiskey is “at least the 11th dog lost or killed by Wag in the Big Apple since 2015 — and at least the 14th nationwide, according to records kept by The Post.” According to the New York Post, NYPD told Whiskey’s owners their dog had no harness or collar when he was taken on the walk, and their home surveillance system showed the walker coming back to the home without Whiskey and taking the forgotten harness from the kitchen ‘to cover his tracks.’ Whiskey’s owners filed suit in Nassau County federal court on July 1, 2019.
