Dog Trainers Warning Owners off TV Series Advice

Auckland, New Zealand: Stuff reports dog training experts as saying the methods used in Cesar to the Rescue, currently showing on Choice TV, are damaging. The show features Cesar Millan, a reality TV dog trainer whose philosophy is based on outdated and inaccurate dominance theory. Mark Weaver, president of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers New Zealand, is reported as saying that the methods used “could lead to situations that risked injury to dogs and their owners, could cause psychological damage, and were ‘extremely dangerous’…That’s why you get so many cases of a dog biting, a family pet that’s never done it before. We are fortunate dogs are such a tolerant and forgiving species they put up with a lot but every dog has its breaking point.”
