Greyhound Dies after Dog Walker Took Him out in Midday Heat

London, England: The Daily Mail reports that a dog walker took pet greyhound Speedy for a walk in temperatures of 43 degrees Celsius. According to the report, “Speedy started panting heavily during the walk on Tuesday lunchtime, and his body temperature soared to 43C. Later that night he suffered a seizure and was taken to Medivet in Hampstead, London, where he was sprayed with cool water and put on a drip, before he was yesterday transferred to the Royal Veterinary College. A Medivet spokesman told MailOnline the hound died from kidney failure and extreme heatstroke early this morning.”
